The primary purpose of the Tipton County Schools Alternative Learning Center (ALC) is to serve as a disciplinary school for students in grades first through twelfth who have been suspended out of regular school and assigned to ALC through their principal, the Tipton County Board of Education Student Disciplinary Hearing Authority (SDHA) or IEP Team. The school is designed to serve as an alternative placement for students who have had difficulty adjusting to the regular school/ classroom environment due to disciplinary reasons. The staff is dedicated to not only teaching academics, but also to teaching respect, rules, regulations, rights, and responsibilities.
The Tipton County Teen Learning Center (TLC) was created to provide educational and therapeutic day treatment services to “youths at risk,” whose social function in school and society has been unsatisfactory. The program, which serves youths twelve to eighteen years of age, is intended to prevent youths from entering state custody. It is also designed to strengthen the youths' ties and relationships with their families and the community.
As of October of 2023, ALC and TLC students are learning remotely.
